Love is Sweet
Cake should not only look beautiful, but it should taste good (duh)!
I had so much fun doing six cake testings, and found which place fit just what I wanted with flavor and price and found myself at the gym doing more cardio...
Here is what my endeavours brought me to believe...
Greg Marsh is good, but a little over rated (you pay for his name - $$$).
Chocolate Bluebird cake was a little dry for my taste,
but their Hawaiian cake is to die for! (reasonably priced).
Cakes by Jeanette was a sweet lady with delicious cakes!
Simple Perfections is a nice lady with dirty fingernails...puke! Enough said.
Pastry Perfection is exactly what it says...perfection! They had delicious flavors (vs. cookie cutter like most other ones I tasted), their designs were beautiful (you could also bring in your own picture and they would do it), and they were also the best priced! 3 cakes, 1 fork...wham bam, thank you ma'am!
We also wanted cupcakes, so we had a girlfriend do our pastries - Amanda Lawrence! She had tasting samples (even the "healthier" recipes that I found, she made them up as another taste test) and was amazing with the delivery and set up of our delicious treats!

Details of the Ceremony
Whether you have your ceremony at a church, or at the reception site, make sure to include details such as a "thank you for coming" for your guests, adequate seating, and elements of you as a couple that share the story of your love...

Photo Slideshow on the big screens as people were seated, along with some of our favorite love songs playing...
A girlfriend made our ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket, and we had an old family bible that had been passed down for many generations...
What is the ambiance you want to set for your ceremony? Lighting plays a big part!
Communion and a Unity Candle...aspects of our faith that we felt were very important. We also included a pastor from Chris' former church who has had a significant impact on our lives to be a part of that aspect of the service.
The Communion cup was from my great grandmother...don't be shy to use things with meaning...
Your decor can be anywhere from simple to extravagant...
And regardless of what happens (our little flowergirl got scared to walk down the aisle after seeing hundreds of people and my maid of honor had to come to the rescue), at the end of the day, you will be married!

Money Registry
For those of you who already have most of your 'household items" and would just like some cash (maybe for a honeymoon - like we did - or for a down payment for a house, etc etc),
is the best place to go for that kind of stuff! You get an account (free), make a website (easy), and after you have informed your guests, sit back and wait for an email to come to you that says someone has given you a gift! ($$$)! (then it's a simple process of transfering the money to your account or having OurWishingWell.com send you a check).
Guests can use cards through the website, which makes it really user friendly for everyone.
(and feel free to contribute...hey, who wouldn't love a second honeymoon)?!! =)
Save the Dates, Invitations, Programs & Thank You's
If you are going to DIY:
Go to Hobby Lobby, Michael's and/or JoAnn's
If you are going to have them made, forget online (the thickness of the paper is usually thin and will feel cheap, along with poor print quality - in general) and forget Zurchers (they have cheap, uninspiring, cookie-cutter invites that probably haven't been updated since the 1980's - not that the 80's are bad by any means)... =)

Here are the thank you postcards Jessica with MinuteMan Printing made...we went with post cards because postage is cheaper, we could still include photos, and we wrote a "thank you" message in marker, she scanned it and put it on the card so it was like we wrote it, but only once instead of 300 times! (I also had return address labels made at 123print.com).

A DIY project on the mantle that has a favorite verse or saying on it...
A photobooth scrapbook where people make their own notes and funny pictures for the bride & groom...
"Love is Sweet" DIY by the desserts...
Photos of the bride & groom as they grew up (include family and friends as well)...
Roast Marshmallows!
Whatever you decide, make it your own, origional, put your special touch of detail and pazazz in there...each one of us are different, so make it unique, make it your own, make it special for you and your groom!
